CALL FOR ENTRIES

Punjab Population Innovation Fund (PPIF) in collaboration with the Population Welfare Department (PWD) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) invites Documentary Short Films from amateur and professionals, to mark the World Population Day 2019. The winning Short Films will be awarded cash prizes, screened at the PPIF Events and publicized through PPIF, PWD and UNFPA social media and events.

THEMATIC AREAS:

  • Male responsibility in Family Planning is essential for joint decision making among couples
  • No woman should die giving birth
  • Family planning is the key to economic growth and poverty alleviation

CATEGORIES:

The categories include:

  1. Professional Category (2 Minutes – 120 Seconds)
  • Anyone with a professional experience of up-to one year or more may apply with the content vetted by the respective media house.
  • Maximum of one submission is allowed per film maker.
  • To ensure originality, all films must be submitted with verifiable exif/metadata of the footage.
  • Mobile Phone Entries will not be entertained.
  • Animated films are strongly encouraged.
  1. Amateur Category (1.5 Minutes – 90 Seconds)
  • A media student enrolled at an institution must apply with the content vetted by the respective institution.
  • Freelancers including media graduates must apply with the CNIC.
  • Maximum of one submission is allowed per film maker.
  • To ensure originality, all films must be submitted with verifiable exif/meta data of the footage.
  • Mobile Phone entries are strongly discouraged.
  • Animated films (2D and 3D) will be preferred.

RULES:

  • Only documentaries and short films produced on the outlined themes would qualify for the shortlisting and screening.
  • Content produced may be in English or Urdu, however Urdu will be preferred. English subtitles are mandatory.
  • Professional content must be produced on HD 1028 resolution.
  • Mobile Phone entries are strongly discouraged. If submitted, no pixelated footage would qualify for the screening.
  • The submitted films must not be LESS or MORE than the specified time (This does not include starting and ending credits which must not exceed 10 seconds each).
  • Fr submission, PPIF will accept uncompressed digital files in (MOV/MP4) formats
  • All selected content will be the intellectual property of PPIF.
  • Only works never previously published will be entertained.
  • It is mandatory to fill and submit the PPIF Short Films Competition Entry Form with each entry.
  • There is no submission fee for this competition.

AWARDS:

Entries will be subject to preview by a jury constituted by PPIF. No person in any way connected with the production or commercial exploitation of a competitive entry will be a member of the jury. The award decision by the jury will be final.

The entries will be evaluated on the following:

  1. Adherence to the Theme & Rules Compliance (15%)
  2. Title (10%)
  3. Creative Tagline/Slogan (10%)
  4. Originality (15%)
  5. Clarity of Presentation (20%)
  6. Technical Merit (20%)
  7. Performance & Narration (10%)

Any entry with plagiarized content will be disqualified. Please note that failing to cite credit for Creative Commons constitutes plagiarism.

There are six prizes to win. Three prizes will be awarded per category  for the winning film makers:

  • First Prize: 80,000
  • Second Prize: 60,000
  • Third Prize: 40,000
  • Official certificates will be awarded to all screened filmmakers
